Something Everyone Can Do
by Eric Lyons, M.Min.

Not everyone can stand in front of hundreds of people and teach about the one true God. Not everyone can write an article about the design in the Universe that testifies to a grand Designer. Not everyone can counter the arguments of a renowned atheist in a formal debate. Not everyone has the ability or opportunity to let their voice be heard in public forums. One thing that every Christian can do, however, is sign and promote the “Project 7 Days” signature support list.

“Project 7 Days” is a student-lead movement that is seeking to petition the state of Alabama to allow the evidence for intelligent design to be taught in public schools alongside the General Theory of Evolution. The organizer of the project, Jack Norris, a high school senior from Jasper, Alabama, has made it clear that the goal is not to get the “religion” of evolution (see Houts, 2007) taken out of science textbooks. The objective is not to get the Bible or Christianity taught in public schools (however nice that would be). According to their mission statement, what the students initiating this project want “is for the student to be taught the scientific evidence that supports intelligent design.”

The students leading the “Project 7 Days” movement believe they can collect 1,000,000 signatures before 2012 (the next year in which Alabama will adopt new science textbooks), and they welcome signers from any state in America. Would you consider signing this petition today? Even better, would you get involved by printing off a “signature support” list and seeing if your fellow church members or neighbors would consider signing it? Why not take action and help a group of conscientious Christian high school students fulfill their dreams of delivering 1,000,000 pro-intelligent design signatures to the state of Alabama by 2012.

If you would like to learn more about “Project 7 Days” or become a participant in this effort, contact Jack Norris by e-mail at maddox12@charter.net, by mail at 2105 Brakefield Dairy Rd., Jasper, AL 35503, or on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/pages/Project-7-The-Voice-of-Alabama/132570820122508. If you would like to start participating today in this effort, click HERE to access a PDF document that you can print off. Then, start getting signatures and send them to Jack Norris at the above-mentioned address.
