That Their Words May Be Used Against Them
by Bert Thompson, Ph.D.

Over twenty years ago, in 1977, an unusual book appeared on the scene. Authored by creationist Robert Kofhal, and published by the Creation-Science Research Center in San Diego, California, it bore the catchy title, Handy Dandy Evolution Refuter. In its 157 pages, this mass market paperback provided almost 200 valuable quotations from the writings of prominent evolutionists, practically all of which provided damaging testimony to the fact that evolution wasn’t a fact.

Seven years later, in 1984, the Creation Science Foundation of Australia published a thin, 8½x11-inch booklet of 20 pages that bore the title, The Quote Book. Compiled by John MacKay and co-workers, this volume provided over 100 quotations similar to those found in its predecessor, but more up-to-date. Each of these two books was a valuable addition to the creationist literature of the day. But, as the old saying goes, “that was then, this is now.” There’s a new kid on the block!

Several months ago, the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) in El Cajon, California published Henry Morris’ latest book, That Their Words May Be Used Against Them. Dr. Morris, president emeritus of ICR and co-author with John Whitcomb of the classic creationist text, The Genesis Flood, often has been called “the father of modern creationism,” due largely to the fact that in his eighty years (as of this month), he perhaps has written more, spoken more, and defended the biblical account of creationism more than any creationist within the past half century.

This new volume from Dr. Morris’ pen provides a veritable plethora of quotations from evolutionists’ own writings, documenting in no uncertain terms the sad state in which evolutionary theory finds itself today. While being painstakingly careful to provide the correct context of each quotation (even going so far as to quote evolutionists who say they abhor being quoted by creationists!), Morris has produced a massive, 487-page, hardback book containing quotations from the evolutionary literature on subjects that range from the Big Bang to the corrupt fruits of a life based on belief in evolution.

The book is divided into sections (e.g., the origin of life, the fossil record, geochronology, etc.) for ease of use. In addition, each quotation is accompanied by bibliographic documentation regarding author, source, date, etc. But there is more.

Accompanying the book is a free CD-ROM for use with computers that employ the Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT operating system. The CD, produced for ICR by Parson’s Technology, contains the entire text of That Their Words May Be Used Against Them in an “unlocked,” ready-to-use format, as well as the software needed to access the material. Also provided on the CD are other valuable books that can be unlocked (usually for nominal fees) over the Internet via a credit card.

All in all, this book is one of the most valuable creationist resources I have seen in a long time. In fact, it is among several new offerings that we are including in our 1999 catalog (which is in press now, and should be mailed to our readers in mid-November). We already have copies of That Their Words May Be Used Against Them in stock and ready for shipment. The cost is $22, plus $3 postage/handling. You may order with a credit card by calling us toll free at 800/234-8558. Or you may order by mail. Either way, you’ll be glad you did.
